This John Galliano single-breasted loose jacket from Fall-Winter 1987 ‘The Rose Collection’ is an important example of the designers craftsmanship and design.

Made from black wool gabardine, the complex pattern-making was led by the highly skilled Japanese designer Koji Tatsuno. Select panels are cut with excess fabric that are then sculpted into rosettes adorning the lapels, hem, shoulder, and backside of the jacket.

A navy variant of this jacket was donated by John Galliano himself to the Victoria and Albert Museum. This museum-grade garment is a testament to Galliano’s romantic design and complex craftsmanship.
